The classic Space Invaders arcade game has suffered a huge mutation: Now it is comes in a 3D form, it is brought to the world via television screens and instead of a spaceship it presents an Alfa Romeo Mito Multiair.
Actually this is a video advert created by Alfa Romeo to promote the company’s MultiAir engine range which is scheduled to be introduced February 12. The animation shows a red Afla Romeo Mito warrior blowing invaders, to pieces. The intruders, to say so, represented by gas pumps and toxic barrels, are eliminated by being zapped with lasers from the car’s headlights.
The MultiAir engine range is an European example of (gasoline) downsizing, which promises to offer good fuel economy and low CO2 emissions without sacrificing performance. The engine line-up introduces the 1.4 liter 135 HP Alfa MiTo Lusso and Veloce, together with the 170 hp 1.4 liter Alfa Mito Cloverleaf (as it is badged on the UK market) model.
The latter sits at the top of the MiTo range (until a true mad version of the MiTo, bearing the GTA name, will arrive) offering hot hatch performance: the first hundred is reached in 7.5 seconds and the show goes on until somewhere around 136 mph. At the same time, the car returns a combined cycle fuel economy figure of 47.1 UK mpg. This engine has also been chosen for the recently-introduced Alfa Romeo MiTo Maserati Courtesy Car.
The Alfa MiTo MultiAir range starts at 15,165 pounds and reaches 17,895 pounds for the Cloverleaf model.
