If you thought that the MiTo is getting a bit old now, fret no more ‘cause the Alfa Romeo supermini is back... in black! Specifically, this one-of-a-kind Italian hatchback was co-developed by renowned British amplifier manufacturer Marshall.
Just like the most recognised guitar amplifier brand in the business, the Alfa Romeo MiTo Marshall Concept has a very specific ‘je ne sais quoi’ to it, similar to the legendary ‘crunch’ signature sound developed by the British audio equipment company.
The one-off MiTo is slated to debut at an exclusive invitation-only screening of a rock documentary called ‘Sound City’, which is the directorial debut of Dave Grohl, former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters front man, vocalist and guitar player. Similar to Marshall amps, the car featured is adorned with a gloss black exterior, a little gold detailing and multiple Marshall badges.
A golden front grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers and chrome exhaust tips complete the aesthetic workover of the exterior. If you open the door and step inside, you’ll be extremely surprised by the unusual gear knob design, which reproduces the Shure SH55 microphone. Even the air conditioning controls pay tribute to the knobs adorning most Marshall amps. Speaking of which, the concept car is fitted with a bespoke Marshall JVM 50-watt head running two 12-inch 75-watt speakers.
As for the oily bits, you’ll be disappointed to find out that the rock theme doesn’t echo in the engine bay. Under the hood you’ll find a 1.6-liter oil burner with 120 horsepower. However, the Uconnect 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system coupled to the aforementioned audio goodies definitely makes up for the lack of oomph.
