Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA First Video and Making-Of

Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA, which was displayed for the first time at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, is now the main star of a promotional video made by the Italian automaker in Valencia. As you can see for yourself in the video below the article, the MiTo GTA is racing against Giulia GTA, another popular model introduced during the '60s that also carried the Gran Turismo Alleggerito badge.

There's not much to say about the video since it is especially intended to emphasize the main characteristics of the MiTo GTA: engine power and appealing design.

Just to refresh your memory, the GTA flavor of Alfa Romeo MiTo is a more powerful version of the base MiTo that is powered by a 1.8-liter engine developing a maximum power of 240 hp (the top engine configuration on the standard version is a 1.4-liter turbocharged unit that produces 155 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque).

However, in order to obtain better performance figures, Alfa Romeo relied on turbocharging and dual variable valve timing as well as on a massive weight reduction programme that mostly came from a smaller engine for the GTA. In addition, the Italian manufacturer used carbon fiber and aluminum in several areas, including body panels, brakes and suspension system.

And because we were talking about the suspension system, you should know it is the result of a collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Magneti Marelli, being able to identify driving conditions and load the most appropriate settings for best performances.
