Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 Turbo LPG Released

Alfa Romeo launched a new MiTo version equipped with an LPG turbopetrol engine that develops 120 horsepower. The 1.4-liter unit produces only 131 grams of CO2 per kilometer and is available in Italy for 13,900 euro. This is the first engine powered by an LPG supercharged turbo compressor, thus developing 120 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 206 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.

In terms of performance, the new MiTo reaches a maximum speed of 198 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.8 seconds. The car is already available in Italy through Alfa Romeo's official dealership network.

Alfa Romeo also recently released the 1.4l MultiAir engine choice for the MiTo, a separate version that comes in three different power levels - 105 hp, 135 hp and 170 hp.

The biggest of the three, the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo 170 hp unit provides 39 g/km of CO2 and 4.8 l/100km over the extraurban cycle, while the smallest (as in less powerful), 105 HP 1.4 power unit "ensures full involvement at the wheel".

“We expect the MultiAir to be a technological breakthrough for gasoline engines that rivals what the common-rail did for diesels,”
Alfa Romeo CEO Dario Cravero said.

The 1.4-liter MiTo comes with a 20 percent power boost if equipped with MultiAir while cutting CO2 emissions by around 10 percent. Power is up 20.8 percent to 145 horsepower from 120 hp while CO2 output is reduced from 145 g/km to 129 g/km. Fuel consumption goes down from 6.1 l/100km to 5.6 l/100km, which is about 8.2 percent.
