Alfa Romeo Giulietta Raced by Harlequins Rugby Stars

What better way to relax before a big game than having a bit of fun while testing your driving skills behind the wheel of the car that almost snapped the 2011 Car of the Year title? As the club’s Official Vehicle Supplier, Alfa Romeo has invited Harlequins’ rugby stars Nick Evans, Will Skinner and Chris Robshaw to a high-speed challenge in the Giulietta ahead of their landmark match in Abu Dhabi on January 30.

Evans, Skinner and Club Captain, Robshaw, grabbed the wheel of the 235 bhp range-topping Alfa Giulietta Cloverleaf, at the world famous Brands Hatch motor racing circuit in Kent.

The players were tested on the ability to drive to instruction, changing gear, taking the racing line, use of power and braking technique. In the end, it was the All Blacks’ fly half, Evans, that took the winner’s podium.

“I’m not sure Will and Chris are happy but ultimately it was no contest, the best man won! With each lap I gained more and more confidence and got faster and faster across all parts of the track. It was a great day and we thoroughly enjoyed putting the Giulietta’s through their paces – they can certainly handle,”
Evans said, who currently drives an Alfa.

The new Giulietta, launched in the UK in July 2010, boasts a best-in-class Euro NCAP five star crash safety rating, whilst the entire range benefits from Euro 5 compliant engines, fitted as standard with Start&Stop system. Prices for the Alfa Giulietta hatchback start from £17,450 OTR.
