Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Leaks Out with 280 HP 2.0 Turbo and 210 HP 2.2 Diesel

With its 7:32 Nurburgring record and its tail-happy nature, the "Ferrari-engined" 502 hp (510 PS) Quadrifoglio version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia might turn out to be too much for some aficionados out there. Well, if you happen to be one of them, you shouldn't fret, as the Italians have prepared the Giulia Veloce for your below-ten-out-of-ten speeding needs.

Those of you keeping track of Alfa's every new move should be familiar with the designation of the warm sedan, as the 2016 MiTo line-up saw the admiteddly not-that-boliling-hot Quadrifoglio Verde being renamed Veloce.

But let's stick to the gorgeous saloon we have here, as the Giulia Veloce can easily be distinguished thanks to its bespoke front and rear aprons (check out the diffuser and twin exhaust setup at the rear), 19-inch wheels and dark trimming.

Veloce means "fast" in the Giulia's native language, an asset the Alfa won't fail to deliver. Gas believers will be thrilled to find out the gap between the 200 PS turbo-four and the Q output mentioned in the intro is filled with the Veloce's 280 PS 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo.

The automaker also has diesel worshipers covered, with the other engine available for the model being a two-liter oil burner - we've already met the Giulia's 180 hp 2.2 diesel, but the Veloce comes with a massaged version of the engine, which delivers 210 hp and a meaty 470 Nm (346 lb-ft) of twist, with peak torque being on tap at 1,750 rpm.

Regardless of your motivation choice, the Veloce features the eight-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel-drive.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce, which we had spied in the past, will make its debut at the end of the month, at the Paris Motor Show. While we don't know when deliveries start, if you've already called your financial adviser, make sure to prepare EUR52,050 for the gas version or EUR53,550 for the diesel - the prices cover the Italian market, including 22% VAT, but we don't know how the country's switch to a 24% VAT in 2017 will affect them. As for the US presence of the model, such details have not surfaced yet.

P.S.: Notice the Easter Egg on the infotainment display? The 2019 Rebirth shown on the screen should be a mention of the automaker's plan to boost sales from the current 70,000 cars per year to 400,000 vehicles by the said year.
