This year, Alfa Romeo is celebrating its 102nd year of existence, and showing how much things have changed, but also adding some nostalgia, is basically their agenda at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The prestigious event will mark the UK launch of the Alfa MiTo TwinAir, a car powered by the award-winning TwinAir angine, a two-cylinder unit displacing 875cc and fitted with a turbo and variable intake valve technology for sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
2012 is also the 50th birthay of the iconic Giulia. Between 1962 and 1977, the model range and engine combinations on offer resulted in sales of one million units.
Also at Goodwood will be two cars from Alfa Romeo historic collection, a 1965 Giulia Sprint Speciale prototype, which was designed by Bertone and set the style for Italian sports cars of the 1970s, and the 105-series Giulia-based Alfa 1750 GT Am which competed in the European Touring Car Challenge. The Italians will also show the 932 Gran Premio Tipo B ‘P3’, 1953 Alfa 6C 3000CM, 1972 Alfa GTA 1300 Junior as well as the more recent 1993 Alfa 155 V6 TI DTM.
