In a recently published press release, FCA US LLC discussed about getting the “next Alfa fix” at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January. As expected, the Italo-American consortium did not go into specifics, but we can tell you what FCA was referring to.
After a year that saw the arrival of the 707 HP Hellcat-grade Challenger and Charger, as well as the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X and Chrysler 200, the Fiat-Chrysler Group’s ambitions will not end here.

Without further ado, the new model that will kickstart the group’s 2015 offensive is the long-awaited Alfa Romeo 4C Spider soft-top sportscar.

As a brief reminder, the hardtop 4C (Type 960) entered production in 2013 and it’s no secret it was developed for Alfa Romeo’s re-entry in the United States. The 4C Spider variant was spied and spotted by the carparazzi numerous times ’til the present moment, with the latest happening a week ago in Ubeda, a town located in the Jaen Province of Spain.

Two Alfa Romeo 4C Spider vehicles and a gorgeously retro 2000 Sportiva Spider were spotted in Ubeda

And you’ve guessed it - Alfa Romeo is preparing the 4C Spider press package, photos, videos and all, for the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which opens its door on the 12th of January.

Don’t expect anything more than a 1.75 turbo with 240 PS and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear wheels by a 6-speed dual dry clutch automatic transmission. In terms of weight, the conversion to fabric top mobile will certainly add a few pounds over the US-spec 4C’s 2,194 lbs (995 kilograms).

By the looks of it, the soft-top is a manual job, which means elbow grease is needed to remove and put it back in place. Nevertheless, that Ferrari 458 Spider-inspired engine cover makes up for this little niggle.
