To be offered in a single trim level, the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will arrive at US and Canadian dealerships this summer. Starting at $63,900, the beautiful Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is animated by a 1,742 cc turbocharged four-banger as the coupe.
The two-seat sports car will be offered in six exterior colors: Basalt Gray, White, Madreperla White Tri-Coat, Rosso Alfa, Rosso Competitizione Tri-Coat and Giallo Prototipo. In plain English, that’s the Italian way of saying the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is painted yellow.
If anything, swapping the hardtop of the coupe for a stowable cloth roof works wonders for the all-new 4C Spider. From a purely aesthetic point of view, the car at hand is bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful. With a gazillion miles of sky above you and your passenger’s heads, it’s an almost perfect weekend trip machine. Why almost instead of perfect?
Have a wild stab in the dark at guessing the cargo space. Wrong. It’s 3.7 cubic feet or 105 liters in European money. To boot, the front double wishbone suspension and the rear shock absorbers with hollow piston rods aren’t a recipe for Mercedes SL-grade comfortable cruising.
On the performance front, 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is doable in 4.1 seconds. A 160 mph (257 km/h), 1.1G of lateral acceleration, and 237 HP (117 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) channeled through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission are the technical highlights of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider.
Curb weight is 2,487 pounds (1,128 kilograms), which is 22 lbs or 10 kg more than the Alfa Romeo 4 Coupe. Before deciding on the $63,900 Italian sports car, remember that a C7 Corvette Convertible is $59,995.
