Nurburgring lap times continue to be one of the hottest subject in the auto world and it’s time for the Alfa Romeo 4C to take center stage.
The Italian sports car has reportedly went round the ‘Ring in 8:04. However, despite various unofficial sources pushing the rumor onto the web, there are absolutely no other details about the story at the moment.
If true, the Alfa Romeo 4C’s time places it at the same level with the Porsche Cayman S or the Audi R8. The interesting thing is that the 4C uses a rather modest (compared to the other two) 240 HP 1.75-liter turbo four.
This story somehow reminds us of the day when the 265 HP Megane RS Throphy completed the Nordschleife in 8:08. Not only did the car set a new FWD record or outperform BMW’s 1M, but it also showed what good tweaking means.
While the Megane RS Throphy was a pumped-up model, the Alfa Romeo 4C was conceived from the ground up to be a go-fast machine, so an 8:04 time shouldn’t amaze us. For example, one should keep in mind that the 4C’s carbon fiber hub helps it keep the weight as low as lbs 1,970 lbs (895 KG).
