Alfa Romeo 4C Could Be the Sexiest WTCC Safety Car Ever

Spectators and home viewer of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) will be treated to something really special when rain or accidents put a damper on the racing season. The Camaro and Maserati have been put to pasture, retired to make way to the new Italian kid on the block.

Yes, the brand new Alfa Romeo 4C has been selected as the official safety car for the WTCC and will make its debut next month, during the April 12-13 weekend of racing Moulay El Hassan Circuit of Marrakech in Morocco.

Ahead of a full pack of racing cars, the 4C will be putting down 240 hp from a relatively small 1.75-liter turbo. Compared to the older safety cars used in previous years, the 4C is not only down on weight (just under 1 ton), but also down on cylinders.

Nevertheless, there hasn't been a RWD Alfa Romeo involved with motorsport in a very long time now. Now here's a safety car you'll be glad to see all year!
