Alfa Romeo 4C Concept to Make UK Debut at Goodwood

Usually, we don’t give much attention to any Italian concept making a debut on British shores, but the Alfa Romeo 4C is something special. The British really love a good Alfa and the Italian brand will indeed put the model into production soon and we bet that a lot of fine folks are willing to put their names down for one, should the actual car looks as good this.

The 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 1-3) will playing host to the UK public debut of the mid-engined Alfa 4C Concept, the latest evolution in Alfa Romeo design and technology. The official press release goes on and on about Italian style and sprit but what is really important about the two-seater is this: it's the first relatively affordable rear-wheel drive Alfa Romeo in a long time, and it also has a mid-engined configuration.

Extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre and aluminium has been made in the concept. In conjunction with a powerful 200 bhp 1750 TBi 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled with the new automatic Alfa TCT twin dry clutch transmission, and Alfa DNA dynamic control selector, it should allow the 4C Concept to produce exciting performance figures: Top speed 155mph, 0-62 mph in under 5 seconds, and a power-to-weight ratio lower than 4kg per bhp.

Alongside the Alfa 4C Concept on the Alfa Romeo exhibition stand will be an array of the Italian marque’s UK product range, including another UK public debut − the updated Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde, together with the Alfa Giulietta Cloverleaf and the Alfa 159 Sportwagon.
