Alfa Romeo 4C Concept Is An Enjoyable Form of Intelligence

What promises to be the first affordable rear-wheel drive sportcar from Alfa in a long time, the 4C is extensively advertised by the Italian automaker, which has now also released a promo video that shows the car “as we’ve never seen it before.”

“Quite simply, this vehicle screams Alfa. Its sports car soul creates a unique driving sensation, both on the road and when racing, where its velocity and transverse acceleration become even more demanding,”
the company claims.

"The vehicle integrates its Alfa DNA technology perfectly, a true philosophy which brings together all of the on-board technology, making it enjoyable and customisable for the driver and further accentuating the "competitive" nature of the Concept compared to other vehicles currently on sale."

Alfa Romeo’s upcoming compact supercar, which is likely to debut as a production model sometime in 2012, is being praised by its manufacturer as “the most enjoyable form of intelligence”.

But let’s see what Alfa brings to the table to sustain that affirmation. Step by step, the video shows us all the highlights the 4C has to offer.

For instance, the extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre and aluminum. Or the powerful 200 bhp 1750 TBi 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled with the new automatic Alfa TCT twin dry clutch transmission, and Alfa DNA dynamic control selector.

The video also puts an emphasis on the Porsche Boxster-like configuration of rear-wheel drive and mid-mounted engine.

Top speed 155mph, 0-62 mph in under 5 seconds, and a power-to-weight ratio lower than 4kg per bhp, are a few of the noticeable performance figures of the 4C. Some ‘Cuore Sportivo’ we’d might add.
