BMW’s Brand Ambassador and Motorsport hero, Alessandro Zanardi just can’t seem to be able to stay put. After entering the Dolomites Marathon he is now going to participate in the triathlon challenge in Hawaii.
Alessandro, that is currently also a race car driver for BMW, is known for partaking in all sorts of sporting events. He is one of the best para-cyclists in the world, winning two Olympic gold medals at London in 2012 in this regard. He’s also a double para-cycling world champion, titles won in 2013.

However, the triathlon held on the Hawaiian Island called Big Island is a different kind of challenge. It’s made up of three parts: first, there’s a 3.86 kilometer swim in the ocean where Alessandro (having both legs amputated) will be allowed to use a vest.

Then there’s the part where competitors have to cycle for 180.2 kilometers. That’s where Zanardi will probably shine along with his handcycle that helped him win his Paralympic medals.

Finally, the triathlon will be completed by a 42.195 kilometer marathon where Alessandro will compete using his wheelchair. Basically, he’s going to pull through the entire venue using his arms. However, if there’s one person capable of doing it, it’s him.

Speaking on the challenge, he said: “I have always been attracted by very tough challenges, and this triathlon is probably the toughest of all. To take part there is a dream come true for me. And I have to say, on top of that, I don’t have any triathlon experience, so to have the opportunity to make my debut in such a race makes me proud.”

Well, we certainly wish him good luck! Hopefully he won’t just finish the challenge but also claim a good position at the finish line.
