Now, AlcoHoot looks like an interesting turn of events in the drinking and driving problem: a blood alcohol content (BAC) analyzer which connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and displays how drunk you are, so you could judge if it's worth risking your life or freedom driving in the respective state.
The AlcoHoot links to an app (first Apple then Android to follow) which calculated your BAC according to the results the breathalyzer sends, compensated with personal details, such as gender, age, height and weight.
Working with the location services, the app offers several actions: call a cab, call a friend, or point the nearest open restaurant, in case you feel like your BAC is not high enough. He phone can also be set to alert you every 30 seconds with alarms and vibration so you don't fall asleep (yeah, right), and it can also estimate when your BAC reaches a specified lower BAC limit.
The “Share” options was incredibly hilarious, as we can already imagine friends in different parts of the planet, sharing evidence of how drunk they are over Facebook and Twitter.
The idea is nice, but we fear it will work only for the already aware drivers.
