If you’re not a history buff, then we should start this story with the name of this widebody kit. Centurion comes from the Latin word Centurio, a professional officer of the Roman army that commanded a… wait for it… century of legionaries.
Centurion is derived from the Roman word centum – meaning one hundred. A centurion, however, commanded approximately 80 legionaries. The equivalent to today’s military rank of captain, Centurion is how Alandi Motors decided to name its widebody and aerodynamic upgrades package for the eight-gen Corvette.
Turning our attention back to the C8 Centurion, there’s no denying the ‘Vette looks pretty aggressive in this specification. The 11-spoke wheels could be less bling-bling, but I may be nitpicking here.
Designed to make your C8 “much better looking and different from the stock one,” the 13-piece kit is also available as a Lite version without the widebody parts. In essence a bolt-on affair, the package consists of the following bits and bobs:
- Rear wing
- Top-side air intake scoops
- Rear-fender air intake scoops
- Side skirts
- Front-bumper side inserts
- Hood inserts
- Rearview mirror covers
- Central air intake inserts
- Front lip spoiler
- Rear-bumper side air ducts
- Rectangular exhaust tips
- Rear aerodynamic diffuser
Pretty much all of these babies are made from dry carbon fiber. What “dry” means is that the resin is pre-impregnated into the carbon fiber during manufacturing. Stronger, lighter, and more expensive to make than wet carbon fiber, the dry variation is also known as prepreg.
A "limited edition" that's currently available for pre-order, the Centurion aero/widebody kit doesn't have a price tag. However, Alandi Motors did offer pricing information for individual parts.
The aerodynamic diffuser and wing are $2,000 each while the lip spoiler adds $1,200 to the tally. Side skirts retail at $1,500, the rear-bumper side air ducts are $750, the exhaust tips come in at $800, and the list goes on with the central air take inserts at $2,000.
