Alain Prost Might Have FIA Role in the Todt Administration

Jean Todt received yet another boost in his fight for the FIA presidency, as it surfaced in the media that former 3-time world champion Alain Prost considers taking a FIA role alongside his countryman if becomes president of the ruling body in October.

If there is something that perhaps I could justify, it would be on the matters of F1 and sport. We will have to see what is going to happen in two or three months. It is something we have already spoken about but it cannot be decided today,” Prost was quoted as saying to sport365.com.

The former Ferrari-an – Prost that is – spoke very well of both FIA candidates, but admitted he would like to see Todt win the battle for the presidential seat. Nevertheless, he did point out that Todt has some major disadvantages in the race, despite Mosley's vote of confidence earlier this month.

Ari Vatanen is a very good candidate, and Jean Todt is an excellent candidate. Jean's disadvantage is that the (F1) manufacturers are not very positive about his possible arrival. But there are also the automobile clubs to consider, the safety, the mobility, the environment ... in short, an enormous amount of work,” added the 54-year old.

One thing's for sure, though, Prost will not be campaigning for the FIA presidency, as he made it very clear he has no plans whatsoever to fight against his countryman for the presidential role.

Moreover, if Jean is there, I would never put myself against him,” added Prost.

When confirming his candidature for the FIA presidency last week, Todt did not include Prost in his leadership team.

For the position of deputy president for mobility I would propose Brian Gibbons, chief executive of the New Zealand Automobile Association; for deputy president for sport I would propose, Graham Stoker, chairman of the Council of the UK's Motor Sports Association; and for president of the Senate I would propose Nick Craw, president of ACCUS and the current FIA deputy president (sport),” said the 63-year old Frenchman.
