Beware of grandma, because you never know when she might be packing. One Alabama grandmother is making national headlines after she (almost) single-handedly caught a car thief.
To her credit, the car thief was also on the run and had been fleeing the cops for several hours, when he ended up on Marcia Black’s porch. Marcia had just the thing for him: her rifle, which she showed him she had every intention of using if he made one more step towards her.
The incident happened earlier this week, The Daily Caller reports. Marcia was at home with her 2 grandchildren, when she saw Cameron Powers approaching. She went out on the porch to ask him what he wanted, and he asked her if he could use her phone.
There was something off about the guy, so Marcia took out her rifle and told him to stop. He didn’t, so she fired one shot in the air, which finally helped deliver the message.
It turns out that Powers had crashed a stolen car near Marcia’s home and had been on the run from the cops for several hours. The report doesn’t say anything about his intentions in approaching grandma’s house, but we can probably assume he wasn’t really after using her phone.
“He wouldn’t get down so I shot in the air and he realized I meant business,” Marcia told the media of her reaction, which was prompted by fear for the safety of her grandchildren. “I was just as calm as I could be. I knew what I was doing. I was in control. I wanted to keep him at a distance.”
While keeping the car thief at a distance, Marcia called the police. She then kept her eye (and her rifle) on the dude until cops got there. He is being held on bond.
“I didn’t intend to kill him,” the woman adds. “I just wanted him to think that I would shoot him.”
