Chatom Ford launched the campaign God, Guns and Freedom last week, with general sales manager Koby Palmer telling USA Today that it helped them sell 5 vehicles in just 3 days. For a small town, that means that “business is booming.”

They have social media to thank for that. This being rural Alabama, the message struck a chord, so word about it spread fast, making the video go viral. Speaking of which, you will find the ad for the campaign at the bottom of the page as well: that’s Palmer himself explaining how the campaign works.

“I guess it went viral, as the kids say,” Palmer says for the publication. “We live in a small town of 1,200 people. It’s a very small, rural area. They lean on their religious beliefs, their pride in America and they love to hunt.”

He also explains that, while the ad promises a shotgun with a truck / SUV, that’s not exactly how it works. Instead, you get a certificate, which you can use to buy the shotgun from any partnering certified firearms dealer in the area or in Mississippi.

Moreover, if you want to buy a new, pre-owned or certified pre-owned vehicle from Chatom Ford, you can still do it even if you’re not in the market for a shotgun or a Bible. They’re nothing if not accepting.

“This is just showing support for our local community,” Palmer explains. “Anyone that doesn’t 100% agree with what we’re portraying, we’re not trying to force our beliefs on anybody. We respect anybody that disagrees, no matter how vehemently they do.”

The God, Guns and Freedom campaign runs through the month of July.
