Akrapovic announces its latest trick in the field of exhaust sound administration (we can already say this is a science), in the shape of the Akrapovic Sound Kit, a technology which so far is available only for cars but which will definitely be passed to the two-wheeled side very soon. Akrapovic is known for adding power and torque to any engine which receives such an exhaust, but the tonal improvement is yet another strong point for the Slovenian manufacturer.
The Akrapovic Sound Kit allows the motorist to alter the aural response of the exhaust system by a simple press of a button installed in the cockpit… or pressing a virtual button inside the smartphone app. This action will allow the driver or rider to switch to a richer, more easily recognizable sound by altering the position of the valves inside the exhaust.
The physical button is supplied with a mounting bracket for motorcycles but thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, it can also be attached to the key chain or stored in a pocket. Obviously, the whole system is plug-and-play and easy to install, effortlessly pairing with the dedicated iOS or Android app.
Select Harley-Davidson Touring and Dyna models will be the first to receive the Akrapovic Sound Kit. Availability was announced for May. Check back with us for more details as Akrapovic brings us updates.
Most motorcycle systems will receive EC/ECE approval
Akrapovic says that the Sound Kit will be offered with EC and ECE approval, making it legal in both the regular and the “richer” modes. Switching between the two can occur at any time, stopped or while riding.
