Premium exhaust manufacturer Akrapovic expands its Racing Line Collection with a new full system for one of the Dark Side Yamaha machines, the 2014 MT-09 (FZ-09 in the US). The new Racing Line system comes with stainless steel headers and a titanium sleeve silencer, shedding weight off your middleweight named machine while adding to the performance figures and to the acoustic presence of the bike.
The new exhaust system has been designed to perfectly integrate with the attire of the Yamaha MT-07 and installing it is a simple, plug and play process which should not take more than 90 minutes off your time. No special tools are needed and no modifications must be made to the motorcycle for upgrading to the new performance level, Akrapovic says.

Installing the new Akrapovic Racing Line (Titanium) exhaust system will help your MT-07 gain 2.7 horsepower at 9,250 revs and 3.2Nm (2.4 lb-ft) of torque @ 5,600rpm. At the same time, the system will make your bike 1.6 kg (3.6 lb-ft) lighter, making things even better. No noise-related figures have been announced, but as the new system comes with EC and ECE type approval certificates (with a catalytic converter), things should be alright.

No engine/ECU remapping is needed after installing the new Racing Line exhaust system, since Akrapovic used the latest tuning technologies to create a perfectly compliant add-on aftermarket part. An easy-to-use manual is also supplied with the system, alongside all the needed mounting hardware, making the upgrade easy and fun.

We’ve spotted the MT-07/FZ-07 exhaust system retailing for around $970 (€725) in the US, with the carbon fiber being a little cheaper. Either way, with the killer price the Yamaha sells the MT-07/FZ-07 for, upgrading to premium exhausts is almost a must.
