Feeling like sardines is one of the problems mankind is currently facing. Whether it’s commuting with the regular city bus or flying from the East coast to the West coast, it seems that things are getting crowded by the year. This is one of the things Spanish Aviation enthusiast and designer Oscar Vinals wants to solve with his futuristic airplane. Powered by six hydrogen fuel engines, the triple decker would have a capacity of 800 seats and looks amazing.
Whether you want to call it by its full name which is AWWA QG “Progress Eagle” or just keep the second part, this concept is worth remembering. Other than the fact its design looks like it took inspiration from a long-extinct Pterosaur, the triple-decker is truly an ideal of progress.

Vinals is basically using a lot of the cutting edge research that is still ongoing, a lot of theories that still have to prove correct, and then creates the perfect aircraft of the future. For instance, the six hydrogen-fueled engines would provide with only 30% of all the airplane’s energy, while the rest comes from green energy. Things like a nano-kinetic system, quantum solar dot cells, radio frequency & electromagnetic atmosphere’s waves power-harvesting device system are part of the big picture.

The aircraft’s ceiling is designed with a hexagonal pattern inside a glass structure and, like a part of the fuselage, contains hybrid solar cells. Then there’s also a thermoelectric system. All these technologies that are supposed to capture the maximum rate of energy from electromagnetic spectrum cover a surface of about 463 square meters (4983 square feet). The cockpit is located on the second deck with a special crew member’s room with beds, coffee office and work room.

A 314 square feet wingspan airplane

The wingspan is 96 meters (314 square feet) and there’s a possibility to fold a section of these wings when the plane is in the airport, in order to reduce the space required to deposit the alien aircraft.

As if the fully-green engine wouldn’t have been good enough for the environment, Progress Eagle also has a CO2 cleaner system on the rear part, which the designer claims is based on the original concept from Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy at Columbia University’s Earth Institute.

The entire structure would be build of future materials based on fiber carbon, graphene, ceramic & composite materials, aluminum alloys, titanium and... self-healing skin with meta-materials.

The Spanish designer claims the airplane wouldn’t be any close to production earlier than 2030, but we’d rather push that date by another 30 years or so.
