The famous small-displacement KLX250 is back, borrowing more from the KX line and being built to take both the city traffic and hill climbing with ease while also coming with major improvements over previous iterations.

The new bike is built around a modern, lightweight, and compact 250cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, which was given a new fuel injection system to improve fuel efficiency, performance, and starting in different conditions.

Using an electric starter and Kawasaki’s Automatic Compression Release (KACR), which automatically lifts an exhaust valve during engine cranking, starting the new KLX250 will be a breeze. Precise control of ignition timing by the digital CDI also contributes to easy starts and reliability.

The engine also features an electro-fusion cylinder, meaning it has a very hard coating to offer superior heat transfer and less weight while also holding lubrication well and resist abrasion. A new stainless-steel exhaust system completes the list.

Embracing the engine is a box- and tubular-section frame that remains slim and stiff to give the bike good cornering ability and straight-line stability. At the front, a 43 mm inverted fork features a 16-way compression damping adjustment to offer performance both on- and off-road while offering 255mm of travel.

At the back, the Uni-Trak suspension provides great road holding ability and bump absorption thanks to the same level of adjustment for compression. Also, it can be adjusted for rebound and preload, with a total of 230mm of wheel travel.

The bike comes with a 21-inch front wheel, and an 18-inch rear one kept in check by a twin-piston caliper gripping a 250mm disc and a single-piston one holding a 240mm disc accordingly.

The 2018 Kawasaki KLX250 will be available starting October and comes in two color setups: Lime Green ($5,349) or Matrix Camo Gray ($5,549).
