Aguersuari Hails Promising Debut

Although Sebastien Buemi insisted, prior to this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, that he won't be under any pressure now that he has become Scuderia Toro Rosso's new leading driver in Formula One, it was the very Swiss driver who made some unexplainable mistakes midway through the race at the Hungaroring.

The Formula One rookie lost control of his car during his second stint on Sunday – as his STR4 spun in the process – which resulted in him being relegated to the last spot for the remainder of the race. That meant 19-year old Jaime Alguersuari – officially the youngest driver to ever start a Formula One race – managed to cross the finish line ahead of his more experienced teammate.

While reckoning he was very happy with finishing 15th overall – considering the multitude of incidents during the race – the Spaniard admitted his physical condition in the late stages of the 70-lap Hungarian Grand Prix was far from okay.

I am very happy to have finished, but the last five laps were very difficult from the physical point of view. I found it hard to keep the car on the pace, but I am very satisfied. P15 is not so bad, but the main objective was to complete the 70 laps, with no mistakes, maintaining my pace. I have learned a lot but I have to say there are some aspects of F1 which made me think, 'shit this is tough.'” admitted Alguersuari in a STR review of the race.

Despite benefiting from a brand new aerodynamic package for the Hungarian race, Buemi only managed a 16th place. While Alguersuari is perfectly excused for his P15 because of his early debut in the series, Buemi admitted he's the only one to blame for not converting the STR4's update into a point finish.

The car was good, as we showed in qualifying but today I was the one who made the mistakes. The only positive thing is that the car is definitely improved with this new package,” insisted the Swiss driver.
