Aftermarket 2009 VW Scirocco By Caractere

Anybody who is somebody in the auto industry has to show its goodies at the Geneva Auto Show, so Caractere rushed to unveil its new tuning package for the 2009 Volkswagen Scirocco. In fact, the whole package is actually a bodykit upgraded the already-appealing appearance of the Scirocco, bringing a new front spoiler, a new front grille, a roof spoiler plus side vents and rear spoiler with incorporated exhaust.

Besides making the car looking hotter than it is, Caractere could also improve the safety level it provides, as each of the aforementioned parts are finished in PURim and PUR, as vwtuningmag.com informed today. This brings a number of advantages such as flexibility which helps the aftermarket model comply with the European pedestrian safety requirements.

Since Caractere's tuning package does not include a performance upgrade, consumer may be interested in getting better figures from the 2.0-liter TFSI engine. Just like the aforementioned source writes, a number of mods are available through B&B, as it follows:

  • The first package brings the overall power from to standard 47kW (200hp) to about 176kW (239hp) and 340Nm. The price of this upgrade is 998 euros.
  • The second modification raises the performance figures to 188kW (256hp) and 360Nm of torque for a price of 1,998 euros
  • The third performance increase costs 5,950 euros and brings the total output to 210kW (286hp) and 400Nm of torque

The standard 2.0 TSI engine installed on the 2009 Scirocco delivers a maximum power of 200 hp (147 kW) at 5100 rpm and a torque of 280 Nm between 1700 and 5000 rpm. This engine helps the Scirocco accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, with maximum speed rated at 146 mph (235 km/h).
