Aeroboat Is a Luxury Spitfire on Water

The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter the Allies were using against the Nazis. It also was the aircraft produced in greater numbers than any other British aircraft. Aeroboat has nothing to do with the war, but its designers claim it preserves the purity of the famous airplane.

Currently under development, the luxury speed boat is the brainchild of superyacht high-end designers Claydon Reeves Adventure and will be limited to only ten units. And it’s no wonder this puppy is not just for any sea lover, considering the rumored price is ranging from $4. million to $5.3 million. But let us look closer.

At the core of this concept, there’s the renowned original Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The supercharged monster with its bespoke gearbox and final drive can be commissioned in various states of tune, from 1,500 horsepower up to 2,500 horsepower allowing for incredible speeds of 75 knots (86 mph). As to the looks of this vessel, the exterior will vary according to each buyer, but here’s a hint.

The fluid lines of the original plane combined with modern automotive features inspired the design. This can be visualised in the sensual form language of the stern echoing the wing’s trailing edge, the sweeping tail, and the authentic air intake scoop. Yet this is also a distinctly contemporary yacht design using carbon fibre, Kevlar and lightweight wood veneers.”

The cockpit can comfortably accommodate four to six passengers, depending on the individual’s demands. According to Aeroboat’s creators, the forward seats are a unique shock-mounted design inspired by the Spitfire landing gear. The helmsman has the use of a combination of analogue gauges for basic functions and touch-screen navigational systems.

Further details can be consulted on the website, but we can tell you this much, these speedsters make you want to reconsider that "get rich plan" you had back in college.
