Additional Cargo Space Has Never Looked so AMG-Like Before

Virtually every motorist – at some point in time – experienced the moment when available space on board the car was not enough anymore. People have turned to various solutions to this timeless problem, and automakers are increasingly taking notice of their conundrum. Even high-performance specialists such as the Affalterbach-based Mercedes-AMG.

Their answer to this problem is both great-looking and functional, all the while bearing the simple name of “Mercedes-AMG roof box.” Well, that could easily count as a Eureka-category moment for a certain part of their fan base. You know, the one that absolutely needs to have their favorite brand’s name on virtually every item in their possession.

While we can expect a surcharge on the account of this being an official product from the brand, there are other reasons to compensate for the potential price hike compared to your run of the mill roof box maker.

For starters, the company has kept the bar just as high as when dealing with the latest AMG car, deploying their experience in terms of achieving “the highest standards of engineering, efficiency, exclusivity and design.” More so, the company says the new roof box was extensively tested by the AMG High-Performance Team.

They say it was for the sake of achieving the needed values in terms of aerodynamics, driving control, and noise levels – we have to say we could not help but imagining the experts bundling their swimsuits and snorkeling gear and going for a quick respite at the seaside...

Joke aside, the new Mercedes-AMG roof box will become available from November at the company’s dealers – so they are probably ready to hide inside the 410-liter (14.47 cu. ft.) roof box around 70 kg (154.32 pounds) of skiing and snowboarding equipment.

The new addition to the AMG accessories range will arrive in two versions – one for all Mercedes models and another specifically targeted at the company’s coupe models. The roof box has been made out of all-weather hard-wearing plastic, can be opened from both sides, and has a quick-release system for attaching it to standard Mercedes rails.
