Acura ZDX to Debut in China in 2011

OK, we do know that Acura is mostly addressed to the United States, but the way the brand performed in China isn't quite a reason to be proud of. But the chief executive within the company are looking into ways to change things a little bit this year and how else could they do that if not by launching new models and try, just like the rest of the industry, to grab a slice of the success cake everybody is enjoying in China?

The latest model rumored to be launched in China and wearing the Acura badge is the ZDX, a vehicle that's currently undergoing heavy testing on the local streets. Caught in numerous spyshots, the ZDX is expected to say hello to the Chinese public sometimes this year, although there are some sources that claim the debut could be pushed to 2012.

Not much is known about the new model, but the car will most likely be inspired from the American version that's already on sale in Acura's main market starting from $45,645. The car is powered by a 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 aluminum alloy engine that generates 300 hp at 6,300 rpm and 270 lbs-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Thanks to this configuration, the car achieves a fuel consumption rating of 16 mpg (14.7 l/100km) city and 22 mpg (10.6 l/100km) highway.

Although it could be a little different in China, the American ZDX is offered in three versions, each with its own price and equipment specifications. Standard features on each of the three trim levels include hand-stitched leather interior, power-actuated and heated front seats, a dual-zone, dual-mode automatic climate control system with automatic humidity control, rear seat vents, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink connectivity and a high powered audio system.
