Acura Unveils Ludacris’ 1993 Restored Legend Sedan at 2015 SEMA Show

If there’s one place rappers feel better than at home, it has to be the SEMA show. 6,383 companies worldwide all get together to showcase their fresh goodies - it’s like a candy store for kids. This year, Honda’s luxury division has brought a unique contraption that belongs to rapper-turned-actor Ludacris.

Along with “multiple innovative expressions of the brand’s performance-crafted DNA,” Acura also unveiled the meticulously restored 1993 “Ludacris Legend” sedan. The 1993 Legend sedan is featured in the multi-platinum selling, Grammy award-winning ninth studio album of the artist.

The vehicle has been Ludacris’ reminder that he too started from the bottom, and no matter how successful one gets, you should try to keep your feet on the ground. As it was previously reported, the vehicle was involved in an accident before the restoration.

Acura’s Torrance-based Design Studio was in charge of the two-month project, while the company’s global creative director Dave Marek guided it. Minor modifications include upsized, 18-inch Rays wheels wrapped around Bridgestone Potenza High-Performance 215/40R/18 tires plus custom high-performance 6-piston front caliper and 4-piston rear caliper brakes.

To freshen it up a little, the company also developed a custom Warm Cashmere with Ice Pearl paint scheme. On the inside, the installed Pioneer AVIC 8/ONEX sound system was upgraded to provide the special audio aficionado feeling integrating Apple CarPlay and by adding two Alpine Type-12 subwoofer speakers in the trunk with custom Acura badging.

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges may be a successful actor nowadays, but he started as a rapper, so Acura made sure the restored Legend was lowered by two inches. Additionally, frame, body, and chassis work has been completed to ensure the vehicle continues to be the artist’s beloved one.
