Twenty-five years ago, Honda gave the world a distinctive car that will remain in history thanks to its connections with the brilliant F1 driver known as Ayrton Senna.
Those mad about the supercars of the '90s will no doubt remember what trends dominated that age. Back then, exotics came mostly from Italy, were mid-engined brutal machines, wearing a sticker to match their out of this world performances.

But Honda had a different vision of how a supercar should look like and behave. Call them hipsters, but they wanted their version of a supercar to be user-friendly, ultra-reliable and cheap to service.

That's how the NSX (New Sportscar eXperimental) came to focus, a state-of-the-art vehicle that used a weight-saving all-aluminium monocoque body and a high-revving VTEC V6 all-aluminium engine sending power to the rear axle.

The reason we're telling you this - besides the obvious anniversary occasion - is that this year's Silverstone Classic will mark the festival's Silver Jubilee this summer. Also, fate did its usual magic trick and the 2015 Silverstone Classic event will host a 'Japanese cavalcade' that also marks key Mazda, Toyota, and Nissan milestones.

Those attending the exhibition will be able to witness 300 MX-5s celebrating the 25th anniversary of the UK launch of the iconic Mazda two-seater plus parades marking important milestones for the Toyota MR2 Mk 1 (30 years), Nissan Skyline GTR and Nissan Sunny/Pulsar GTI-R (both 25 years). Sounds like a big slice of cake for those having a soft spot for Japanese cars, don't you think?
