The USA were, of course, amongst the ‘privileged’ ones. Across the Atlantic from the car’s hometown, 700 so-called Electronauts got to test BMW’s 1 Series ActiveE models, to see how they fair with daily commuting.

The information gathered in this long process, started two years ago, was crucial to determine how many miles a person usually covers on a daily basis in its electric car.

These ActiveE cars were spread around in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, New York, Boston and Hartford and now, the guys that leased them got some great news.

The leases were supposed to expire this year but, since the i3 isn’t available in the US yet, the BMW Finance people decided to allow those that are interested, to keep the electric 1ers until the new EV from Bavaria arrives. All of them were informed with a letter, posted below, in the press release section.
