Active Autowerke Launches Active-8 Tuning Module for BMWs, including M3/M4

The battle to bring the best ECU tuning kit for the new BMW models out there is pretty intense. Most companies are still having a hard time breaking through the Germans’ firewall to be able to alter parameters in the ECU per-say so the piggyback choice is still the most popular at the moment.

Active Autowerke just introduced their so-called Active-8 module that is supposed to be a weather-proof device that you simply plug into your car’s ECU to improve output. Judging by the pictures they provided, it better be as tempestuous weather could ruin your fun.

At the moment cars like those based on the F3x platform, E7x, F10, F12 and F8x are compatible with this module that is available for purchase. According to Karl Hugh, AA’s Technical Director and head of engineering, a gain of 65 to 75 HP is attainable, at the wheels, combined with a 60 to 68 lb-ft of torque.

The device uses an advanced 64-bit processor that works in tandem with BMW’s DME without an issue and can be installed in under an hour, leaving no fingerprint on the car’s on-board data which basically means you won’t void your warranty.

The list of cars compatible with the new Active-8 Tuning Module includes:
