German publication Auto Bild Sportscars just published the results of a survey which asked its readers to pick the best sportscar of the year 2012. Out of the 71,000 people who answered the quiz, 27 percent picked the BMW F10 M5.
However, it wasn't any M5. It was AC Schnitzer's ACS Sport, a modified version of the M division sports saloon. The ACS  M5 has an upgraded engine with 620 HP and 790 Nm (582 lb-ft) of torque, capable of accelerating to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the stock version) and with a top speed of 305 km/h (190 mph).

All these improvements are being used with the same amount of CO2 emissions (232 g/km) and with even better fuel efficiency. The ACS M5 also has some new aerodynamic enhancements and suspension settings.

The person who received the award was AC Schnitzer's Managing Director, Rainer Vogel who wanted to thanks the voters and fans for stepping up and picking the M5 as 2012's sports car of the year.
