The time has come for another BMW tuner to take a shot at the iconic i8. Just like the people from Manhart, their take was also on the design of the car, looking to emphasize its looks more than its performance. That being said, let’s take a look at what they are offering.
The suspension can be lowered by 25 mm (1 inch) at the front and 20 mm (0.8 inches) at the back for better road hugging and overall track abilities. However, since the i8 is a pretty low car to begin with, we’re not sure taking it even lower is a great idea.

Other details refer to the aerodynamics. The front end received carbon spoilers on the bumper while the side sills are also compatible with new skirts made of the same material.

The Aachen-based tuner didn’t stop there though and put together a new set of wheels for the i8 called AC1 forged. They have a sporty design that keeps in touch with the DNA of the brand, in a BiColor setup.

According to them “with the AC1 wheel, AC Schnitzer has reinterpreted the classic double-spoke design. With sophisticated style, the spokes form triangle tips towards the rim which widen into the wheel centre forming five trapezoids. These guide the eye straight to the single classic element of the AC1 rim: the 5-cornered hub cap with the AC Schnitzer logo.”

If we’re to believe the press release, they are also 4.4 kilograms (10 lbs) lighter than BMWs offering, therefore improving both performance and efficiency.

It all looks enticing enough but truth be told what owner in his right mind would consider doing this to his/her car? This will be a collectable in a few years and tuning it just doesn’t make sense.
