AC Schnitzer 99d: Eco Performance for Geneva

The Geneva Auto Show is almost ready to allow us to enjoy the charms of automotive temptresses coming from all parts of the world. One of the event’s areas that we’re particularly interested in the tuning one, which will come with an explosion of new developments. Many aftermarket developers have chosen to quench our thirst for new releases (or maybe generate it), offering us a preview of the goodies that will be brought to the Swiss event.

Earlier today, we’ve talked about AC Schnitzer’s new product offensive for Geneva, which includes the ACS5 Sport S, a 540 hp & 750 Nm BMW 5 Series and the 99d, a diesel eco-orientated BMW Z4. As the first was already presented to you, it is now time to see how the Z4 hugs threes, as well as wallets.

The starting point for the project was a BMW Z4 320d Efficient Dynamics Edition, which has received both tech and exterior modifications. The oil-burning roadster now allows its driver to play with 190 hp and 420 Nm (310 lb.ft.) of torque.

And this is just half the story. The Z4 was put on a serious diet, managing to loose 230 kg. The result is very impressive, as the vehicle manages to cover the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 6 seconds and offer a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph), while only emitting 99.19 grams of CO2 per km.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
