ABT-Tuned Audi S1 Has More Power than the S3

Audi's brand new pocket rocket, the S1 supermini, has just been tuned by the guys at ABT Sportsline, who decided their customers deserve more power. The result is nothing short of breathtaking, considering we're dealing with a car that's only four meters long.

From the 2-liter TFSI turbo engine, ABT engineers were able to extract 310 PS (228 kW) of power, a big increase over the standard 231 PS (170 kW). To put that into perspective, the bigger S3 leaves the factory with "only" 300 PS. Heck, the ABT S1 almost matches an SQ5. Torque is also up, from 370 Nm to 440 Nm, representing a 70 Nm increase.

The gallery below shows a prototype built by ABT to demonstrate everything that can be done to your S1. And so it comes with everything you could possibly imagine, including a black paintjob with metal flake. They also make a few other cosmetic touches, including some rather ugly air vents for the front wings and 18-inch gun metal wheels with 225/50 R18 sports tires.

The stance has also been lowered by 30mm at the front and rear axles while interior mods are limited to floor mats and an ABT integrated entrance light.

No performance data is available right now, but the 310 hp version of the S1 should be able dip below 5.5 seconds in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint and easily exceed 250 km/h (155 mph) if de-restricted.

“Our Audi S1 combines a great look and dynamic handling, with safety still a priority,“
says Hans-Jürgen Abt.
