Certain fans of Audi’s 4-liter twin-turbo V8 may not be fully satisfied with the 520 horses the engine delivers when hidden under the hood of the S8. Well, ABT Sportsline comes to the rescue, as the Ingolstadt-obsessed tuner’s latest package for the super-sedan takes the power close to what a Lamborghini Aventador has to offer.
ABT has released yet another power pack for the S8, this targeting the facelift, with the mods bringing the V8 to no less than 675 hp and 840 Nm (619 lb-ft) of twist. In case you were wondering, the standard torque figure sits at 650 Nm (546 lb-ft).

How they did it

In order to achieve this, the V8 was gifted with a custom exhaust system, which includes the mid and rear mufflers, as well as a new ECU map. The German top speed gentlemen’s agreement has also been broken, since the electronic limiter for the maximum velocity has been fiddled with. Thus, the top speed raises from 250 to 290 km/h (155 to 180 mph). Interestingly enough. ABT's VW Golf R can top 300 km/h (186 mph).

The connection to the road was redefined, as ABT installed an electronic lowering module for the S8’s air suspension, which brings the car 25 mm (1 inch) closer to the road. The Audi now rides on custom wheels, with customers being able to choose between two designs, which come in a 20- or in a 21-inch size.

What really makes the ABT Audi S8 interesting is that this is sort of a sleeper. Sure, the wheels are customs, but the exhaust tips are not and we’re pretty sure other drivers won’t expect that much muscle to be hiding behind those Matrix LED headlights.

ABT offers its Audi S8 pack with a two-year / 100,000 km (62,000 miles) warranty on the German market.

The fact that ABT achieved such intense output numbers with just an exhaust and an ECU remap only comes to confirm the monstrous potential of Audi’s V8.
