Tuning companies have always adored creating modification packages with vulgar power outputs and one of the perfect playgrounds for such developments is the hot hatch segment.

Now that the hot hatches have a new power king, the 340 hp Audi RS3, aftermarket developers are starting to offer impressive modification kits for the vehicle, racing to brings its performance to a sky-high level.

The latest development of this kind comes from Abt Sportsline, which offers two stages of tuning for the RS3's 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged poweplant.

Stage one takes the 2.5-liter TFSI unit to 420 hp, which is the exact output of the current generation BMW M3, for example.

But wait, like we said, there's more. Customers who really feel the need or speed can go for Stage Two, which goes as far as 470 hp and 465 lb-ft of toque (630 Nm). However, both versions have tweaked V-max limiters that allow them to hit a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h).

The connection to the road is established using a set of 19-inch lightweight alloy rims that are wrapped in 255/30 tires at the front and 225/35 tires at the back. We are talking about high performance tires that, among others, give the driver more confidence to ask the quattro all-wheel-drive system to work hard through the bends.

Our say: Things are great, just try to stay away from street racing!
