ABT Launches Volkswagen Transporter Tuning Program

It looks like the German tuners have a crush on the facelifted Volkswagen Transporter T5 these days and this can only be a positive thing, as it results in the releasing of modification kits for one of the world's favorite people movers.

While the B&B Transporter we presented yesterday was focused on increased performance, today’s custom T5 mainly features enhanced looks and comes from ABET.

The front of the van features a new grille and a spoiler addition that give it a sporty appearance. Moving to the sides of the vehicle, we find a set of skirts that match the design of the front end elements. At the rear of the Transporter, the tuning house has fitted a new spoiler, which follows the same design language as the other tuning elements and houses a four pipe muffler. In addition to that, ABT has equipped the T5 with a rear wing that features a racing-inspired design.

The custom Transporter is not all about the looks, as it offers improved handling characteristics, thanks to the use of ABT suspension springs and ABT BR 19 inch rims.

The tuning company is currently working to develop a set of performance upgrades for the vehicle’s 2.0 liter TDI engine. We expect the development to start a war between the ABT and B&B Transporters.

It has also long become the ideal tuning object," says Hans-Jurgen Abt, the General Manager of ABT, describing the Volkswagen Transporter. "Above all it is due to the fact that the fundamentals have been excellently manufactured, and the vehicle is no longer just a means of transport"
