No fewer than 394 horsepower, that’s what the TT RS develops at the crankshaft in bone-stock specification. But with a re-flash from ABT Sportsline, the German coupe is much obliged to crank it up to 453 ponies and 390 pound-feet (528 Nm) of torque as opposed to 354 pound-feet (479 Nm).
The racing and tuning company from Kempten im Allgäu doesn’t stop there with the four-ringed model. There may be no mechanical modifications to talk about, but customers can make that five-cylinder engine breathe better with a stainless-steel exhaust system. Instead of two oval tailpipes, ABT Sportsline is much obliged to change the layout to four outlets finished in black.

Not one, but two wheel options are available in either matte black or gloss black, ranging from 19 to 20 inches. Carbon-fiber parts are also available, namely the canards on the front bumper, a more aggressive aerodynamic diffuser, and deeper front splitter. Joined at the hip with Audi themselves, the aftermarket specialist offers four years or 160,000 kilometers (100,000 miles) of coverage for all of these parts, including the different software for the ECU.

Those who want a bit more suck-squeeze-bang-blow and visual drama from the TT RS can opt for the TT RS-R, a special edition of which only 50 will ever be made. The engineers squeezed out 493 horsepower and 570 Nm (420 pound-feet) from 2.5 liters of displacement, translating to 3.4 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a maximum velocity of 300 km/h (186 mph).

On a related note, April 2019 is when the TT RS was facelifted one last time. The nameplate is expected to soldier on, but the next generation of the breed will not feature the 2.5 TFSI or anything remotely similar to internal combustion. As part of the Volkswagen Group’s electric revolution, the TT or whatever it’ll be called is also getting an e-motor or two on the MEB platform.

“We will replace the TT with a new emotive model in the same price range,” said the chairman of the board, Bram Schot. Audi Sport, on the other hand, is fighting with the higher-ups to keep the V10 alive for the next-generation R8 supercar.
