ABT Audi AS4 Avant Makes 325 HP on Diesel, Hits 163 MPH in Germany

There's just something innately cool about Audi wagon, Volvo ones too. The daddy of them all is, of course, the RS6. But for today, we're going to focus on the ABT-tuned AS4.
Audi's D-segment offering is now almost complete. We even have the S4 Avant with a brand new engine. But ABT didn't finish that project yet and is instead unleashing the AS4 with an all-mighty diesel punch.

In fact, there are two engine tuning packages available, but you'd be crazy not to get the TDI one. That's because the tuned 3.0 now makes 325 PS (instead of 272) and 660 Nm of torque (instead of 600). Those numbers match the SQ5 without the use of a secondary turbocharger.

Fans of gasoline engines can buy the A4 Avant 2.0 TFSI and order ABT Sportline to give them 330 PS and 440 Nm of torque (up from 252 PS and 370 Nm). If you're not a fan of the smooth way in which automatic gearboxes shift, get the 2.0 TFSI because it features a twin-clutch gearbox - snappy when it wants too, but still smoother than a DSG.

The car has been around for a few weeks, and we decided to share it with both photo and some video footage we've found. Some old ABT tuning projects looked like crap on a stick, but this one is decent.

163 miles per hour is what TheStradman achieves on a de-restricted section of the autobahn. That's 262 km/h, which isn't that bad when you consider four people and their luggage were onboard.

The contrast between the chrome grille and black paint is so striking that you hardly notice what they've done with the front bumper. Those large wheels, however, will never pass unnoticed. We think that ABT still has a way to go in the alloy design department, but their quad exhaust system is sharp as Gillette razors.

The Bavarian tuners might think that their custom diffuser is discreet, but we think something more hardcore and edgy would have been appropriate here. Let us know what you think with a quick comment.
