After having been first introduced at the Paris Auto Show last September, the Abarth 500C esseesse is also set to make a public appearance in Geneva next month. The kit is set to improve the vehicle’s performance, handling and safety without having to make any changes to the low emission and fuel consumption level. The vehicle on display comes with a Campovolo grey and Pista grey two-tone livery with a white chromatic liner. The 500C “esseesse” will also be exhibited with an original “Record Monza” exhaust silencer (dual mode with variable counterpressure) that enhances the engine sound above 4000 rpm and, as on the Punto Evo, with an Abarth Blue&MeTM MAP satellite navigation system with telemetrics. The esseesse badge means that the Abarth 500C is able to develop 160 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The topless vehicle can hit 62 mph in 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph (109 km/h). “The prestigious setting of the Geneva International motor show also presents the occasion to make an advance announcement to the general public of the commercial launch, expected during the second quarter of 2011, of the manual five-speed gearbox on the Abarth 500C, combined with the 135 HP 1.4 T-Jet engine,” a company statement reads. “This novelty permits an expansion of the Abarth 500C range, teaming the "competition" robotised gearbox with steering wheel paddle as standard with a manual gearbox which is specifically designed to appeal to those customers looking for a more direct relationship with the car and deem this solution to be the most suitable for their driving style,” the statement further adds. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
