Abarth 695 Biposto Appointed Official Car Of the Gumball 3000 Rally

50 years since the original model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the modern version of "the most Abarth of all Abarths" will make its on-road debut at this year's edition of the Gumball 3000 rally.

Being the only official automotive partner of the Gumball 3000, Abarth decided to showcase the all-new 695 biposto on the road by putting the pocket rocket through its paces across North America and Europe.

Between 4th and 11th of June, from Miami to Ibiza, 120 supercars will cover more than 3,000 miles at this year's edition of the non-competitive rally. Maximillion Cooper, CEO and founder of the Gumball 3000, has been announced as the official driver of the vehicle.

As the iconic image of the 16th Gumball 3000 rally, the Italian model was given the coveted #1 decal. Unveiled in the flesh at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March, the 695 biposto is Abarth's fastest street legal car ever made, featuring mind boggling specs and a hefty price tag.

Let's not beat around the bush and come forward with the things that matter: 1.4-liter TurboJet engine, 190 horsepower, 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds and 997 kilograms. Needless to say, these ingredients follow Carlo Abarth's "Sunday on the track and Monday in the office" car-making philosophy perfectly.

Aside from the jaw-tastic ominous look and awe-inspiring performance stats, the 695 biposto had its rear seats removed along with the xenon headlights, climate control, electric windows and audio system for the sake of reaching the sub 1-ton overall weight.

A self-locking differential derived from racing together with a transmission featuring dog rings is also available as an alternative to usual the five-speed manual gearbox. Its racing impulse is completed by the front fixed windows with polycarbonate sliding panels, lightened 18-inch OZ rims and carbon fiber detailing both in and out.
