Abarth 500 R3T Revealed

Abarth has just unveiled the company's latest contraption, the 500 R3T, a racing model that will compete in the Group R3T - the category for turbocharged cars up to 1600 cmc - at the 51st Sanremo Rally.

The car will feature a 1368 cmc 4-cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder turbocharged Otto-cycle engine that releases 180 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The engine features a Garrett GT1446a fixed geometry turbocharger, 29 mm diameter intake restrictor and special reinforced water and air sleeves.

The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission with multiplate self-locking differential and 184 mm diameter metal-ceramic twin plate clutch.

Abarth upgraded the suspension system as well, so the car is now boasting MacPherson, special adjustable racing shock absorbers, coaxial spring with wheel for adjusting the car height at the front, and multilink, special adjustable racing shock absorbers at the rear.

In order to be able to handle the large power output, the car will be fitted with ventilated Brembo front brake disc, 295 mm diameter x 28 mm at the front and solid rear brake disc, 240 mm diameter x 11 mm at the rear. Racing brake pads, hydraulic handbrake and brakeforce distributor and rear load proportioning valve to optimise car behavior are also available.

The Abarth 500 R3T comes with stripped interior and FIA type-approved seats with 6 seat belt anchorage points. OZ 7-inch x 17-inch asphalt rim and 19/62-17 asphalt tires are also included in the package. The car weighs 1,080 kilos.
