For over a year, the A45 and its sister sedan, the CLA 45, were the talk of the town. But Audi has revealed a more powerful, much faster RS3 model, stealing Mercedes' thunder in the process. To get it back, some pretty serious upgrades have been planned and will come out at the same time as a facelift for the whole A-Class range.
We've known this information since late 2014, when the AMG boss let slip a version of the A45 with more power will debut in the fall of 2015. So, do you want extra details that nobody else has yet? Well here you go:

We've discovered this photograph of a German print magazine that hasn't launched yet. In it, there's a rendering of the A45 AMG as it will look after its facelift. The redesign is based on the new C63 and uses a long metallic air blade to define the bottom of the bumper. It's pretty normal stuff for Mercedes, but we're sure that this is still a rendering.

The sane unknown publication suggest a 25 PS power bump will be given to the A45 AMG S, resulting in a total output of 385 PS. The M133 engine is already the highest specific output 2-liter ever used by a mass production vehicle, but the upgrade would give it 192.5 PS per liter. That's like a Ford Fiesta ST or MINI Cooper S with the same output they have today, but using a 1-liter.

Torque will also be up to a level that's actually more than what the new RS3 offers, but the sprint to 100 km/h will take 4.4 seconds, 0.1s more than than Audi claims.

At 59,980, the A45 AMG S will be about €10,000 more expensive than the model on sale today. It's an absurd amount of money to pay for a car with a four-cylinder engine, but this is Mercedes' first hot hatch and it comes with all the bells and whistles. So what if it costs as much as an E-Class?
