We all know a true winning DNA can overcome even the hardest challenges of life. This is the case with the unique BMW E30 we're looking at today that belongs to Justin Good, a BMW aficionado, well known around the Bimmer forums. Its story begins in 1984.
Buying this car from his step-aunt in 2000, 16 years after being built, the original color was Beige and it wasn't to Justin's taste. But it was a BMW and it was his so it didn't matter so much at the time.
Over the next years the cars went through a lot of changes. First, he swapped the Beige interior with a black leather sport one, fitted a 5-speed transmission, new suspension, wheels and some other exterior parts.
Disaster struck when he was involved in a car accident that almost totaled the vehicle. However, he decided not to report the accident to the insurance companies and tried to personally fix his car, even though he didn't know how to do it and didn't have the tools for the job.
With the help of some friends, the car was back on the road in a couple of weeks. In 2008, the heart of the car was changed. Justin went for a M50 engine and while fitting it found something rather disturbing: "When I pulled the front suspension to replace a few bushings, I had discovered some rust on the front wheel well. With some further poking, I found that the whole shock tower was falling apart and that the car was barely being held together in the front end."
This was the moment when he decided that the car was no longer road worthy. 3 years later the E30 was torn apart and fixed with the help of the BMW community that was there to pick him up. During this long process the 3er was also painted in a new Marrakech Brown Metallic color.
Finally, the 3 Series got a new M60 engine from another BMW enthusiast from nearby. The new V8 was fitted with a lot of hard work inside the tiny engine bay of the E30 but the end result was impressive.
As we all know, the work on a true BMW fanatic's car is never over and he is constantly updating on the car: "It’s 99.9% ”complete”, but as with any car project, there are constantly things to work on, and it will never truly be finished. I’m sure in a few months or years I’ll be doing something else to the car", said Justin.
