A Storm Is Brewing over this BMW E90 3 Series

When BMW created the E9x platform for the 3 Series, the engineers and designers knew that this will be a legendary model. The customers were left in the dark though, not knowing that the Bavarian brand will leave only the sedan and touring model (let’s leave the GT out of this for now) to carry on the 3 Series name.

The signs were there if you were careful enough. Ever since the E46 model came out, BMW was thinking of making the coupe a model of its own. The 4 Series idea was starting to form in the upper managements of the German company, brewing just like a storm.

The E9x platform was supposed to be the first one to drop the 3 Series Coupe but the plans were changed at the last moment. That’s why, for the first time in the 3er’s history, we had 4 different codenames for the same range: the E90 Sedan, E91 Touring, E92 Coupe and E93 Convertible.

All of them will forever remain in history for a variety of reasons. While the Sedan and Touring are still available in the F30 and F31 guises, they will be remembered for the last naturally aspirated engines ever used on the 3 Series and for being the last ones that used hydraulic steering.

As for the others, the E92 Coupe will be forever remembered as the last 3 Series Coupe as will the Convertible. They are now replaced by the 4 Series Coupe and 4 Series Convertible.

If it was up to us we’d keep every E90 intact, as stock as in the day it left the assembly lines but for some people that’s not a choice. Like this gentleman here that tuned his car to his own liking, leaving tradition behind.

His car gained a BMW performance front lip, M tech BMW Performance front lip, M Tech rear full bumper, Carbon diffuser, BMW Performance mirror covers, Carbon shark antenna, Carbon pillar panels, Carbon emblem, AC Schnitzer roof spoiler and an M3 sedan ducktail. That’s on the outside.

Inside, the 3 Series received Schmiedmann carbon steering inserts, Schmiedmann leather handbrake, Carbon emblems, White carbon shift knob, Euro spec sunglasses holder, AC Schnitzer pedal set and a carbon shiftboard.

Under the bonnet, a new valvetronic exhaust with titanium tips was added along with, custom downpipes, Simota full carbon intake v2 with cyclone, Checkmate heat reduction kit, Schmiedmann carbon oil lids and Pivot 3D throttle controller that allows him to adjust the sensibility.

Last, but not least, we should mention the BC Forged HB wheels that measure 20x8.5 inches up front and 20x10 inches round the back. They’re wrapped in Toyo tires.
