The new Mini Convertible is here and like all Minis it is a cute car and a more of a fashion icon and a trend-mobile than an automobile. The convertible will be available for purchase in standard and S form.

Engine wise, the new Mini has the two gems that helped the model develop its go-kart-feel throughout its production life: the same 1.6L four cylinder engine, only this time is turbocharged to give it more power. The Cooper S has 172 HP and goes from naught to 60 in 7.0 seconds, while top speed is 138 mph.

It looks great, with yellow paint and black go-faster stripes, good looking wheels, and a roof system that makes it a more versatile convertible. The new model can turn into a roadster at the touch of a button, even while the car is in motion with speeds up to 20 mph.

It has an Electrohydraulic-powered roof with an Openometer, a function that records the time spent while traveling with the roof down and a large range of paint colors, roof colors, wheels, upholstery and interior trim choices so that you won't find two cars that look the same on the streets.

As far as safety is concerned, the car is fitted with all the gizmos: Electromechanical Power Steering (EPS), brake system with anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Brake Assistant, as well as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Start-Off Assistant. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with Electronically Differential Lock Control (EDLC) feature on the drive wheels enhances traction under acceleration and is available as an option or as part of the Sport Package.
