A New Metal Was Created for Hublot's New Big Bang Unico Italia Independent Watch

Baselworld really got us going with this watch reporting. Call us crazy or name us fanboys, but there’s nothing better than wearing a fantastic looking accessory while driving your off-roader on the seaside. Even driving to work and constantly checking the time now suddenly makes sense and won’t even be annoying as realizing you’re late normally is.

And the timepiece show in Switzerland is where Hublot, the ultimate luxury watchmakers, presented their newborn, a true work of art that impresses through its gorgeous looks, rare design and... well unique material. When we say unique we mean it since Hublot claims that they invented a new metal just to produce this limited edition model. The name of the metal you ask? Texalium. It’s an ultra-light, durable carbon fiber-coated aluminum exclusive to Hublot watches.

Along with the new construction, the Big Bang Unico features Hublot’s signature chronograph caliber and is announced to come in black or blue. The strap is also quite unique. Constructed from denim fabric with grey or black studs, typically seen on luxury shoes, it was designed with the interchangeable “One Click” system, which enables its wearers to opt from a wide range of straps. Never get bored, right?

Like that wasn’t good enough, they also partnered up with luxury eyewear makers to push the level of opulence even further. Limited to only 500 units, each timepiece will come in a customized Italia Independent case and a pair of matching Texalium sunglasses.

Unfortunately we’re going to have to wait a little more until we actually get a price of these new models, but rest assure, they will definitely not come cheap.
