A Sportster turning to the dirt side is a thing we don't really see every day, but for David Zemla at Burly Brand, this was an old dream. And believe it or not, a Harley-Davidson makes a wonderful scrambler if creativity is in the game, too.
So off went the rear subframe, leaving room for multiple attempts to get things level and looking good. Getting the hand-made seat pan to look perfectly took more than with other bikes, but the end result is flawless.
Since knobby tires were on the way and Conti TKC80s are only available as 17" rear, the old Harley-Davidson rim had to go, too, in favor of a Ride Wright one. The stock shocks gave way to Burly Stilettos for better performance and awesome looks. Off-road-compliant Burly fork springs replaced the H-D ones and now the Sportster was ready for fire roads and field racing.
However, it needed some more work: Monster Craftsman fenders, Kuryakyn blinkers, Vance & Hines air filter and an RSD exhaust almost stolen from a non-selling tradeshow display. The finishing touches were the Biltwell grips, Performance Machine calipers, and a steering damper is on its way, too.
We love the 883 Sportster, but the Burly one can also do muddy trails, so we'd pick it from a thousand other H-Ds. Seen on BikeEXIF.
